FAQ

Why a Taikai Germany?

Why not? The idea for Taikai Germany 2008 was born quite exactly one year before. It emerged from realizing that the German Bujinkan is in a phase of change. It's on it's way to accept its childhood and finish the youth. On the way to be able to grow up.
Such a development becomes visible when people find together and realize, that cooperation yields no disadvantages. Letting everybody live in their own way, honest to one self, is an indication of maturity.
This is the chance, that I see in this Taikai as a symbol of this development. This is the least common denominator and the greatest possible chance.

Who was present?

In the presence of Hatsumi Sensei and Nagato Shihan the files at the Hombu Dojo office were examined, to check, who in Germany has reached the 10th dan. All were mailed and the arrangements began. Since then others were added. Every Judan, who was interested in and had the will to shape the Bujinkan in Germany, was there. So if you miss a name in the teacher's list either those preconditions were not met or the 10th dan was not present.

What was the schedule?

The Taikai started on May 1st with the opening at 10:00 (AM). Then the participants were split up into three groups and were each instructed by a group of 6 Judan. On the second and third day the groups changed, so that every participant had the possibility to experience every Judan. Apart from the 6 trainings per day there was another training unit in which all participants and all teachers came together.

What did you have to take with you?

Regular Bujinkan clothing, that means black gi and tabi. Due to the amount of participants, you shouldn't bring metal or long weaponry. Soft bokken, hanbo and tanto were sufficient.

What else was provided?

After training the Taikai bar at Bujinkan Dojo Reutlingen was open for all participants. You could get in touch with many people over a drink and a snack. On Saturday there was a big Taikai party at the hotel Fortuna. We let the Taikai Germany 2008 ring out with a big buffet and appropriate entertainment.
